An article in The Gazette reports that vacancy rates are down in the third quarter of this year to 6.6%. A large decrease from a the 13.4% vacancy rate found towards the end of 2004. This downward trend looks to continue as troops arrive from deployments and more transfers arrive to Fort Carson. Lenders have tightened up on giving loans as foreclosures and short sales are up. This is another force in the rental trends.
Rents have gone up as a result of the dropping vacancy rates making it a great time to invest into rental properties in Colorado Springs. The Gazette reports that rents have gone up $34.07 over the last year and that the this trend will continue.
